Divisions
The Emergency Management Office is supported by four divisions:
Administration:
The administrative staff plans and manages the County's public safety programs and provides direction and control of emergency situations, including nuclear, natural and manmade disasters and other events affecting the safety and well-being of York County citizens. Our administrative staff is also responsible for overseeing departmental budgets, rescue squad emergency service grants and other administrative functions. Another prominent function of the division is the coordination of the purchase, installation and maintenance of all county radio and communication equipment.

Public Safety Programs:
Provides Emergency Planning and response for a multitude of situations ranging from the Catawba Nuclear Station, hazardous materials, rescue/recovery, training of emergency workers and responding to natural disasters such as tornadoes and hurricanes.
Coordinates the purchase, installation, repair and calibration of a variety of emergency equipment, ranging from radiation detection instruments to rescue tools, and diving equipment as utilized to support the public safety programs and education of emergency workers.

Information Systems Management:
This division manages, maintains and implements all databases pertaining to 9-1-1. Utilizes GIS technology to support the integrity of correct road placement and to provide accurate response information needed for dispatching police, fire, and medical personnel. Responsible for updating all Computer Automated Dispatch (CAD) systems that are relied upon by the 9-1-1 Center, York County Sheriff's Office, and other county departments and municipalities.

Telecommunications:
This division is the primary answering point (PSAP) for all 9-1-1 calls placed in York County, whether by land line or wireless telephone. The dispatch of emergency response units are determined by geographic location and the availability of units for each emergency service zone. Telecommunications also monitors numerous emergency alert and notification systems including weather, national security, and law enforcement.
